City to Conduct Air Quality Testing

The Mayor and Council voted to approve Montrose Environmental as a vendor to test the air quality in Covington. Montrose Emvironmental will place air collection canisters in 10 locations in Covington at determined locations including some that are in close proximity to BD.
Montrose was chosen in part because their lab is able to detect Ethylene Oxide levels 50 percent lower than other labs and samples will be sent to separate labs to ensure quality control. We anticipate having results in approximately eight weeks. At that time, Montrose officials will come to a city council meeting and explain their findings. The cost approved was not to exceed $68,500 which includes a contingency.
