Covington Square
Covington, Georgia
The star on top of the tree is ready to be lit for Covington to see at the Lighting of the Square on Thursday, November 17, 2022 along with an incredible musical lineup organized by The Arts Association in Newton County! There will also be s'mores provided by Newton Federal Bank and face painting for a small fee by Face Painting by Christy & Emily. Of course, there will be Santa, lights and in celebration of our Bicentennial year, FIREWORKS!
The Arts Association in Newton County has put together a fabulously festive show perfect for our 200-year Anniversary that will include:
- Noah Riley Teal
- Oxford College of Emory University Chorale
- Alcovy High School, Newton County Chorus
- Arts Association in Newton County Little Singers
- Eastside High School, Newton County Chorus
- Arts Association in Newton County Singing Children
- Newton High School Chorus
- Arts Association in Newton County Youth Singers
Santa will be ready to turn on the lights and signal the fireworks around 7:30 p.m. and then he will visit with children from his Santa chair.
The Square will close to incoming traffic at 2 p.m. and will be completely closed to traffic at 4 p.m. to create a pedestrian safe environment for our attendees. *BUSINESSES ON THE SQUARE WILL BE OPEN.*
Parking is available in any legally marked parking space around the area that is outside of the Square closure or outside of the fireworks' fallout zone (which will be marked and cordoned off) and handicap parking will be available in the parking lot of the former BB&T bank building.
The stage is bigger, the tree is bigger and we hope the holiday spirit will be as big as ever too for this annual tradition and celebration during our 200-year anniversary!
