Georgia Municipal Association (GMA) has received questions from city officials about rental and mortgage assistance available for residents as the eviction moratorium is scheduled to end on Saturday. No matter where you live in Georgia, funds are available for rental assistance. Mortgage assistance will be available very soon and residents can get on a list to receive updates when the mortgage assistance program portal opens.

Georgia Rental Assistance is available statewide through DCA and twelve other jurisdictions that received funds directly from U.S. Treasury.

Attached are two fact sheets for both rental assistance and mortgage assistance.  As discussed, DCA and all states are awaiting additional guidance from U.S. Treasury before GMA fully launches the mortgage assistance program.  Citizens can send their contact info to this link to receive an update when the mortgage assistance program portal opens -   www.dca.ga.gov/safe-affordable-housing/homeownership/...

The Georgia Rental Assistance (GRA) program has now expanded eligibility to include renter households that receive a monthly federal subsidy, such as Housing Choice Voucher, Public Housing, and Project Based Section 8. Program eligibility is limited to the renter's portion of the rent.

The Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA) launched this program in March 2021 to assist landlords and renters affected during the COVID-19 pandemic, and this new update provides an opportunity to provide much-needed financial assistance.
