October 04, 2021

The City of Covington is celebrating the Georgia Municipal Association’s GA Cities week during October 3-9, 2021! This year’s theme is “Georgia’s Cities: Shaping the Future”. As part of this celebration, the City of Covington will be having a series of events and social media posts highlighting the services and work that we do for our citizens. Listed below are the activities that we will be having during the week. We hope that you will consider being a part of them!

Monday, October 4th - During the City Council meeting, Mayor Horton will be reading a proclamation announcing the start of GA Cities week. We will also begin voting for a volunteer of the year, with a survey that will be posted that day. We encourage you to nominate anyone you feel exemplifies service to our community.

Tuesday, October 5th & Wednesday, October 6th - The Fire and Police departments will be open for tours to the public from 10:00-4:00.

Thursday, October 7th - We will be unveiling the new Covington mural at 11:30 a.m. We encourage everyone to come see the beautiful public art piece, and celebrate the history of film and television in our city.

Friday, October 8th - City of Covington will be hosting an internal pumpkin carving contest, which will be shared on social media for the public to judge. Be on the lookout for our festive pumpkins and help us decide the best Jack O’ Lantern in City Hall!
