As part of our ongoing efforts to maintain and improve the safety and reliability of our infrastructure, we will be conducting a Gas Meter Change-Out Project starting Monday, July 7, 2025 that will last approximately three years.

The City of Covington's Natural Gas Department will begin conducting the Gas Meter Change-Out Project on Monday, July 7, 2025.
🔥What is the Gas Meter Change-Out Project?
The project involves replacing old gas meters with newer, more advanced models. This will help enhance the overall efficiency of our gas distribution system.
🔥What to Expect
• Scheduled Start Date for Change-Out: Monday, July 07, 2025. This replacement project is estimated to take three years to complete.
• Duration of Work: Each meter replacement typically takes about 45 minutes, and there will be gas service disruption during the process.
• Access to Property: Our technicians, with identification and appropriately marked vehicles, will need access to your property to perform the gas meter and regulator replacement. Please ensure the meter area is clear and accessible.
• Relights: Any relighting of a gas appliance will be conducted by our technicians immediately following the meter change out or at an appropriate time via hang tag notification.

Upgrading your gas meter ensures compliance with safety regulations, provides more accurate billing, and allows us to offer improved service reliability. We are committed to keeping your gas service running safely and efficiently.
🔥What You Need to Do
• Ensure the meter is clear and accessible, trim vegetation, and/or remove any obstructions. The recommended space for maintenance is a three-foot clearance around the gas meter set.
• Check for more information about service restoration via hang tag on your front door.
