It's the most wonderful time of the year, and the annual Lighting of the Square kicks off the Christmas season in Covington! From music by the Newton Community Band, Washington Street Community Choir and Oxford Little Singers, Singing Children and Youth Singers, to Santa and fireworks, it is a treasured tradition.Newton Federal will also be providing complimentary s'mores (first come, first served).

See below for street closure times, parking suggestions, and a reminder that fireworks will go off around 5-minutes for a beautiful holiday display!

• 2:00 PM: Soft closure of the Square to vehicular traffic, parked cars start to move

• 4:00 PM: Hard closure of the Square to all vehicular traffic and parking. All parked cars MUST be moved off the Square and one block off

• 6:30 PM: Music begins

• Approximately 7:30 PM: Santa lights the Square and short 5-minute fireworks display commences

• After fireworks, Santa will move to his Santa chair to visit with children and downtown stores will be open for shopping and dining
