Power outages due to the icy winter weather for Sunday, January 25, 2026 will be listed here as they become available.

There is a team working in the Electric Department's control center monitoring the outages in real time so when a meter goes out, they get an alert.
 
 
MONDAY, 1/26/26 @ 3:30 AM: Power has been restored to the Boogers Hill Road area.

MONDAY, 1/26/26 @ 12:50 AM: Power has been restored in the Stone Lea area. Approximately 66 meters remain in various smaller outages that crews are working on now.

SUNDAY, 1/25/26 @ 10:15 PM: Line crews have restored power to the Alcovy area, bringing outages down to approximately 330 customers as of 10:15 PM on Sunday, January 25, 2026. Power is coming on in stages for the Stone Lea area to avoid overloading the substation and the remaining outage areas are in line for restoration as crews will continue to work until power is back on.

SUNDAY, 1/25/26 @ 7:35 PM:Two of the major outages on our system have been cleared as of 7:35 p.m. on Sunday, January 25, 2026 dropping the number of customers out of power from 1,500 to 500. The below areas are currently experiencing outages:
• Alcovy Road / Alcovy Station beyond Alcovy Trestle
• Baker Avenue, Baker Lane, and Baker Road
• Star Dial Road
• Flint Hill Drive
• Farmington Lane
• Todd Drive
Crews are currently working to resolve the outages. As the temperatures begin to drop this evening and precipitation begins to freeze, there is a possibility of more outages. Our crews will be working around the clock, but depending on the number of outages that may occur, power loss may be prolonged. Please continue to take all precautions to stay safe and warm in the event of an outage.

SUNDAY, 1/25/26 @ 6:30 PM: Since approximately 3 p.m., there have been multiple outages on the system due to trees and other weather related issues impacting lines. Currently, as of 6:30 p.m., approximately 1500 customers are without power, including those in the Oxford area and in the Elks Club to Highway 11 area, plus others scattered about the system. Crews are working on both circuits and are close to rectifying the issues for the majority of the outages. Due to the wind this afternoon and the additional precipitation, outages have been prolonged.

SUNDAY, 1/25/26 @ 5 PM: The outages from 3 p.m. have been reduced to 600 as crews continue to work to resolve power issues. Thank you for your patience.

SUNDAY, 1/25/26 @ 3 PM: Our system has 8 outages resulting in approximately 900 customers without power. Crews are being dispatched to work on restoration. Thank you for your patience as they address each of the areas impacted. Due to the current weather, more outages could be possible, but our Electric Department team is monitoring the outages in real time.

SUNDAY, 1/25/26 @ 11:28 AM: Power has been restored for 11 AM outage (200 outages).

NEW OUTAGE @ 11 AM 1/25/26: Tree on line has caused approximately 200 outages. Crews working on it and estimate at least an hour to restore.

ORIGINAL OUTAGE UPDATE 10:25 AM ON 1/25/26: Crews have reduced outages down to 2! And those should be back on within the hour.

The City of Covington Electric team is working on approximately 100 outages as of 9:20 a.m. on Sunday, January 25, 2026. Our crews are on-site and power restoration is estimated to occur within the next two hours barring no unexpected circumstances.
