GDOT Project: Replacement of Bridge on State Route 81 (Emory Street)
 
Starting Monday, March 2, 2026, Emory Street (State Route 81) is scheduled to close for the demolition and reconstruction of the bridge in this area. The construction is anticipated to last 150 days with the section of Emory Street between Stone Mountain Street and Hwy. 278 being closed. Visit HERE for a detour map for local traffic.   • Covington City Hall (2194 Emory St. NW) will be open and accessible during normal operating hours (8A-5P) throughout construction. However, you will not be able to access City Hall from the direction of Hwy. 278.
  • Access for residents and businesses within the closure limits will be maintained as feasible by the contractor.
