Contractors Installing Flow Monitoring Equipment for RDII Micro-Detection

April 13, 2026

Starting on Monday, April 13, 2026, contractors for the City's Water Resource Department will be installing flow monitoring equipment for micro-detection of RDII (Rainfall Derived Infiltration and Inflow) throughout the City of Covington. The contractors will open manholes located on sewer easements, right of way areas, and in yards located on sewer easements to install the detection equipment into the flow. Installation of equipment will take approximately one-hour and contractors will be in marked City of Covington contractor vehicles.

Monitoring of the rainfall derived infiltration and inflow (RDII) is necessary as excessive RDII can affect the capacity and operation of collection and treatment systems. Installation of monitoring equipment will continue through Friday, April 24, 2026.
