Fire Hydrant Flushing by CFD to Start on April 1, 2024

March 01, 2024

The Covington Fire Department, Georgia will start flushing fire hydrants within the Covington city limits on April 1, 2024 and continue with the process through May 31, 2024.

Please be aware flushing can cause the water to be dirty. It may be necessary to run your water for several minutes until it clears up. This controlled procedure is vital to the general maintenance of the City’s water distribution system. It ensures adequate water flow is available to fire fighters, residents and businesses. Hydrant flushing also improves water quality by clearing iron and other mineral deposits from the water mains.
