Turner Lake Widening Project

The City of Covington proposes to widen Turner Lake Road, just west of downtown Covington, in a mixed-use area of Newton County. Along Turner Lake Road, the proposed project length is approximately 1.37 miles. The City of Covington is seeking feedback about the proposed project.

Current Turner Lake Road Conditions

• Northern portion of Turner Lake Road includes a four lane road, two travel lanes and two passing lanes
• South of the shopping center, the road narrow to a two lane road
• Intersection of Turner Lake Road and Clark Street SW, there is a one lane roundabout
• There's a signal at the Brown Bridge Road intersection with only a right turn lane
• Turn lanes present at Holmes Court SW and intersection of Washington Street (Hwy. 81) & Turner Lake Rd.
