Downtown Square Utility Relocation Project Information
This project involves the replacement of aging underground utilities to improve the infrastructure in Covington’s downtown square. The work will include:
- Removal of old materials and installation of new sewer, water, and gas lines.
- Installation of new power and telecommunication duct bank.
- Removal and replacement of asphalt and street striping.
The Downtown Square Relocation & Replacement Project will focus on upgrading aging infrastructure within a 9-block perimeter of the square.

KEY DATES
- October 11, 2025: Contractors will be inspecting the sewer system throughout downtown Covington. Inspections will include soft digging, but no full road closures are expected.
- February 6, 2026: Contractor’s solicitation period ends
- February 15, 2026: Guaranteed Maximum Price for construction will be presented to the city for review
- April 15, 2026: Tentative start date for construction - this date could change to before or after Apri 15th
