Weekly COVID-19 Update from Local Health Officials
We completed our weekly call with local health officials and the news is getting encouraging.
April 10, 2020
-While we are still in the acceleration stage, the estimated peak has been moved up to April 19 from April 23.
-The ventilator and ICU bed shortage in our region (Gwinnett, Newton and Rockdale) has dropped significantly.
-There are 69 confirmed cases and three deaths in Newton County. That is substantially lower than cases in other counties of similar size.
-We were warned however, that after we reach the peak and cases begin to slow, we will experience an outbreak if we do not continue to exercise proper hygiene and social distancing techniques.
Please stay vigilant and we will return to normalcy sooner than later!
